Birch Distribution is a long established family business specialising in the supply and distribution of floor coverings such as carpets, carpet tiles, vinyl, LVTs, safety floorings, underlays, hardwoods, laminates, floor preparation materials, accessories, and tools for trade customers.
Since it was founded in 1924, our company has grown into one of the largest independent flooring distributors of its type, in the UK.
Now distributing nationwide from three depots across Yorkshire, and through our partners across the UK, Birch Distribution offers quality products from the trade's leading names such as Polyflor, F Ball & Co, Tilemaster, Floorwise, Homedecor International Group, Altro, Gradus, Gerflor, Tarkett, Hanson, Ardex and Ultrafloor.
We also design, develop and produce our own products with reputable UK and International partners under brands such as Birch Carpets, Birch Living, Liberty Floor Solutions and Fusion to ensure that our customers have access to the best in both quality and value that our industry has to offer.

Birch Distribution is a division of F. M. Birch Ltd, incorporated in 1924.
Since 1924
F.M. Birch Ltd was incorporated in 1924 by husband and wife, Fred and Maria Birch. The Sheffield-based business was engaged in the wholesaling of carpet squares, linoleum, sail-cloth and other commercial textiles, to a variety of trade customers. The business traded successfully through the inter-war years and grew at a modest rate.
Upon his retirement in 1953 and having no successors, Fred sold the business to the Shirtcliffe family, whose own business had been a long-standing customer of his. It remained part of a group of businesses operated by the family, which concentrated on the provision of soft furnishings, furniture and household goods.
In 1983, John Shirtcliffe as Company Chairman, teamed up with employee Ken Biggin in the capacity of Managing Director, and key supplier James Halstead Ltd, to reinvent F.M. Birch Ltd as a wholesale distributor of carpets, floorcoverings and accessories to the flooring trade. Since those humble beginnings in shared premises, the company has grown to be one of the largest, regional independent distributors in the UK, with four sites in three cities across Yorkshire. From those sites, and with the help and cooperation of partner distributors, we offer a nationwide distribution service as Birch Distribution.
